Pacquiao – Marquez IV Set

Manny Pacquiao, the former eight division world champion will make his competitive return to the boxing ring on the 8th of December with a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.

The Filipino Bomber and the Mexican have already had a storied trilogy of bouts in the past and this night on HBO pay per view will be the fourth time that Marquez attempts to get the better of the Filipino. The bout is set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where two of their three previous fights have been held already.

Pacquiao is returning to the ring for the first time after his loss to the undefeated American Timothy Bradley back in June in a WBO Welterweight Championship match. And although the fans and boxing writers were sure that Pacquiao had done enough to win the match, the judges awarded that match to Bradley via a split decision. Pacquiao chose his opponent from among three candidates – Marquez himself, Bradley as well as Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto.

In the end, the options were narrowed down just Marquez and Bradley after Cotto announced his match with Austin Trout. And although there were calls for Pacquiao to avenge his loss against Bradley, many fans even questioned the need to fight him when there is no guarantee that the fight would go in his favor even if he did everything possible if the match was held in America.

Pacquiao himself wasn’t too interested in fighting Bradley as he doesn’t boast of a strong pay per view record, unlike the Mexican Marquez who is known for his huge following and capability to bring in loads of cash. and Pacquiao made the call to go with the one where the chances of making money are high and chose Marquez for a fourth time.
